SIGGRAPH Asia originates from the parent event in the USA, SIGGRAPH. SIGGRAPH is an annual conference and exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques held in North America. SIGGRAPH Asia is a similar event but with a stronger emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. I have been closely involved with SIGGRAPH Asia since 2014, working on it until 2023. A distinctive feature of this event is its annual change in theme and location.

2020 in DAEGU

The design focus for this year was to create all digital-related works based on existing logos, tagline 'Driving Diversity' and key visuals.

2021 in TOKYO

This year the visual identity has been done by a Japanese designer - Haruka Hashimoto. The concept 'Live' combined DIGITAL + TOKYO, JAPAN + WATERFALL, rich in cultural elements. The challenge was to adapt this concept and its features to develop a matching responsive website.

Daegu - Driving Diversity

Key Visual: Isometric and Technology

The client provided a key visual in the style of isometric illustration, conveying a technological feel. For applying this design concept into the website, two concepts were created with different user interface design.

Final Design

Website pages, Mobile Responsive, Social Media and eDMs, Icon Sets Updating.

Through several revisions, both desktop and mobile website designs were finalised, including UI guidance and usability testing.

The icons have been updated to new colour scheme, also added more for criteria adjustment.

Tokyo - Live

Digital, Tokyo, Japan, and Waterfall

Inspired by the designer Haruka Hashimoto, the concept revolves around digital entropy, Japanese colors and elements, and minimalism. This embodies the idea of 無常 (Anicca/Impermanence) and likens the LIVE experience to a waterfall, symbolising a continuous cycle of creation and destruction, abundant energy, and vibrancy. As expressed in the quote from 'Hojoki': “The current of the flowing river does not cease, and yet the water is not the same water as before".

By following the existed elements and colour pellets, the design process and finalised works have presented as below.
