SIGGRAPH Aisa 2019 BRISBANE
SIGGRAPH Asia
SIGGRAPH Asia originates from the parent event in the USA, SIGGRAPH. SIGGRAPH is an annual conference and exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques held in North America. SIGGRAPH Asia is a similar event but with a stronger emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. I have been closely involved with SIGGRAPH Asia since 2014, working on it until 2023. A distinctive feature of this event is its annual change in theme and location. In 2019, SIGGRAPH Asia was held in Australia for the first time, attracting nearly 10,000 industry professionals from over 60 countries and regions.

2019 in BRISBANE
The 13th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia took place in Brisbane, Australia, at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC). The work for this year was included continuous development of visual identities, marketing, and digital strategies based on the logo, colours, and tagline 'Dream Time' provided by the conference organisers as below.
Key Visual Design Process
Concept 1
Dream, Cultural Identity, and Technology
Drawing inspiration from the theme of 'Dream Time', depicting a human's dream in intricate detail serves as an effective approach.
A dream, much like a river, can span vast lengths, gathering diverse elements along its course before converging into a unified destination. Incorporating elements such as dreaming, the Brisbane River, technological motifs, and iconic Australian symbols further enriches the narrative.
Concept 2
Links of Mind, Spirit, Australian Indigenous Belief and Technology
In the power of dreaming as the source of knowledge and creation, this work connects these ancient concepts and belief with the modern world through cutting-edge computer graphics and emerging technologies.
Aligned with the theme of dream and time, and building upon the main logo featuring an animal figure, this visual direction combines fantasy elements like galaxy, spirit, Orb, and Planet with realistic iconic features of Australia: Brisbane Bridge, The Commonwealth Star, The Golden Wattle, and Australian map, while integrating technological motifs.
Using geometric artistry, the main feature, the kangaroo, is constructed to encapsulate this blend of fantasy, spirit and reality.
