Iconic Characters For Gamescom Asia
Gamescom Asia
Gamescom, the world's largest computer and video game event, made its Asian debut in Singapore from October 15th to 18th, 2020, under the name "Gamescom Asia," marking its expansion into one of the fastest-growing gaming markets globally. The design objective was to create key visuals with an Asian backdrop to introduce the event successfully to the Asian market, which was executed through two primary design concepts.
Concept 1
Manga, Eyes, Characters, and Asian Dragons.
Inspired by the distinctive artistry of Japanese manga, this design concept leverages its global popularity. Drawing on the rich heritage of Asian cultures, it incorporates legendary dragons that symbolise power, mystique, and adventure-themes deeply embedded in gaming. A diverse array of eye designs represents attendees from various backgrounds, symbolising their unique interests and goals.
Concept 2
Low Poly, Game Levels, Gaming Elements.
This concept envisions Gamescom Asia catering to visitors, exhibitors, press, and business, each represented by a unique "planet." The red planet, for exhibitors, is a hub for industry leaders. The purple planet offers visitors an immersive gaming experience. The blue planet focuses on business networking. The orange planet serves as a press haven.
Final Design
Visual Identity, Print, Advertising and Marketing.
Building on the original Gamescom theme, the visual identity, print materials, and marketing strategies have been enriched by introducing the majestic dragon as a key character.
The design approach incorporates diverse perspectives to create 3D models showcasing the dragon itself.
